Using COR for SAFE Companies Certification

SafetyDriven and the BC Forest Safety Council (BCFSC) have reached an agreement, which accepts your SafetyDriven COR certification as equal to all or most of the audit needed for SAFE Companies Certification.

Here is how that will work for large employers:

  • Companies will register and pay their fees with BCFSC and then train a person with supervisory duties in the Forestry Safety Overview course. This can be done online.
  • The company will then audit their safety program using an auditor who has been certified by both organizations. The conversion audit contains seven additional questions, specific to the forest industry.  For a minor cost, upgrading courses for internal auditors are available through the BCFSC, and many of our external auditors are already dual certified.

The process is slightly different for small companies:

  • As above; companies will register and pay their fees with BCFSC and then train a person who has supervisory duties; in the Forestry Safety Overview course. This can be done online.
  • The company must supply proof it has passed the current year’s audit (either maintenance or certification) and that it has a current employee who has completed the Forestry Safety Overview Course.

The whole idea is to help simplify and streamline the multiple audits that we face from different agencies.  If you would like more information contact us at info@safetydriven.ca or give us a call at 604-888-2242, or you can visit the BCFSC Safe Companies Conversion website.  For information on fees and specifics regarding the Safe Companies Certification, please contact the BC Forest Safety Council at Laurel.Laturnus@bcforestsafe.org or by phone at 877-741-1060
