Press Release: Showing Commitment to Safety in BC’s Trucking Industry

SHOWING COMMITMENT TO SAFETY IN BC’s TRUCKING INDUSTRY

Langley, BC / May 15, 2018 – SafetyDriven – Trucking Safety Council of BC (TSCBC) is honouring seven companies for their commitment to keeping their workers and workplaces safe from injury, illness, and disease.

Six companies earned their Certificate of Recognition (COR), a designation awarded to employers with a health and safety management system that exceeds regulatory requirements. They are certified after passing audits by third parties.

In addition, one company, Bison Transport, won SafetyDriven’s Health and Safety Innovation Award for their leadership and innovative methods in maintaining a vibrant workplace safety culture.

“Receiving COR and being recognized for innovative safety practices demonstrates commitment to continual improvement. These employers have worked hard to build a safety culture that goes above and beyond federal and provincial requirements,” says Mark Donnelly, Executive Director of SafetyDriven – TSCBC.

“Now they are well on their way to reaping significant long term savings from driving down their claims costs. We are proud to honour them for all their efforts.”
The COR Award of Excellence is presented to those companies who, on initial certification, received top marks on their audit. Recipients for 2017 are:

● Canada Cartage
● Coast 2000 Terminals Ltd.
● PSL – Par’s Services Ltd.
● Stk’emlupsemc – Arrow Transportation Limited Partnership
● Tahltan – Arrow Transportation Limited Partnership
● E.A.L. Truck & Crane Ltd.

Coast 2000 Terminals Ltd. was also recognized as achieving the Best Overall Large Employer COR..

SafetyDriven – TSCBC is a not-for-profit organization and certifying partner for COR. SafetyDriven works with management, employees and owner/operators in B.C. trucking and related industries to strengthen safety performance and reduce the number and severity of workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities.
