Winter Driving

Winter can be a dangerous time to be on the roadways, even for the most experienced drivers out there. Icy conditions, snow, high winds, and cold temperatures – typical of Canadian winters – mean getting a grip on safe winter driving.  With this in mind, the Trucking Safety Council has teamed up with the Winter Driving Alliance to encourage everyone in the trucking industry to take all precautions necessary in winter so that conditions don't catch drivers by surprise.

The Winter Driving Safety Alliance advises all drivers to check travel and weather conditions before heading out and to avoid driving if the conditions are bad. Up-to-date road conditions are available on the Province’s DriveBC website at www.DriveBC.ca.

To help ensure a safer drive this winter, the Trucking Safety Council offers several resources and tips to help you prepare for winter conditions. For more winter driving safety tips, check out ShiftIntoWinter.ca.
